Get connected
- Install both companions. Quit and uninstall earlier test builds before installing. The rename retains the existing app identity.
- Connect to the same private Wi-Fi, open both apps and scan the PC QR on your phone.
- Allow camera and microphone access, then tap Start while Camlink is visible.
- Select Camlink Windows Virtual Camera in your destination application. For microphone input install VB-CABLE separately, route to CABLE Input in Camlink and choose CABLE Output in the calling app.
If a device is missing
A live preview only verifies the incoming stream. Check the Windows camera status in Camlink, Windows camera privacy settings and the browser site camera permission. Restart your calling app to refresh its device list. Reinstall the desktop companion if the camera component is missing. VB-CABLE is separately installed and has its own licence.
If connection fails
Use a private Windows network profile, allow the Camlink firewall rules, and avoid guest Wi-Fi client isolation. Close previous builds from their tray menu. If the PC address changed, create a new pairing. A desktop restart should retain pairing in this version.
Background and heat
Start from the visible Android app before turning off the screen. Use its notification to stop. Android power management varies; check app battery restrictions if capture stops. Lower quality to 480p / 15 fps if the phone gets hot.
Report a problem
Include phone model, Android version, Windows version, app version, the exact steps and error text. If Android shows a startup error, choose Copy error details and review it before emailing. Do not share your pairing QR, secret tokens or signing keys.
Current release status
The Windows installer is unsigned. Physical-phone capture, installed camera registration, real client compatibility, cable audio and extended heat/battery use still need acceptance testing. Native camera output is 720p / 30 fps. USB and multi-phone support are not included. This release is not yet on Google Play.
